Loughborough BA Fine Art Degree show 2025.
Through immersive environments and performative self-imagery, this work explores the tension between vulnerability and control, opening a dialogue around consent, trauma and the gaze.

The series documents the ritual of showering - a quiet, repetitive act that became central to my healing after experiencing sexual trauma. By sharing this intimate process, I reclaim my own narrative, transforming something deeply personal into something political. As both creator and subject, my nudity is not incidental but intentional: a deliberate, consensual act of agency that challenges how my body is viewed and understood.

The life-sized scale grounds the work in lived, physical reality, reinforcing my presence and creating a visceral encounter that unsettles the viewer’s gaze. My body is shown through awkward gestures and unguarded movements, deliberately resisting the passive, sexualised representations of women that dominate art history and visual culture.

In asserting myself as an active subject within the imagery, I reclaim authorship over how my body is seen, while inviting viewers to reflect critically on their own position as spectators.
